300 tonnes of oil spilled after Singapore-registered ship collides with vessel off Johor
A collision between a Singapore-registered container vessel and a Gibraltar-registered container vessel off Pasir Gudang Port, Johor Malaysia on Tuesday (Jan 3) has resulted in about 300 tonnes of oil spilled in the surrounding waters, said the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).
On a regular sunrise walk, on 6th Jan 2017, I encountered oil slicks at Punggol beach. The odour was quite strong.
The impact on fish farmers is yet to be revealed. Let’s hope this gets cleared up or cleaned up soon.
